As you are expecting your sweet little bundle of joy, you have probably been thinking more about your inner health. How you treat your body during pregnancy plays a role in your pregnancy, baby’s health, labor and delivery. That is why we care so much about mama’s health. Although it can seem difficult, here is how your can have healthy holidays while pregnant.

Listen For Ques

The best advice I can give is for you to listen to your body. Are you hungry? Then eat. Are you full? Then avoid the heart burn and stop eating. Achy ankles? Put your feet up! Your body is constantly trying to talk to you and let you know what it needs. Listen to those needs, especially in pregnancy.

Eat Smaller Portions

The love language of the holiday season is food! Try eating smaller portions of meals and treats, because let’s face it, there will be more! By eating smaller portions you can avoid heart burn as well as enjoy a larger variety of foods at gatherings. An easy way to accomplish this is by choosing a smaller plate at meals.

Lie Down

When you are with friends and family it can be easy to feel overwhelmed. If you feel your body is becoming tired or stressed from being active and social, then take the time to rest! To ensure healthy holidays while pregnant ask your host if there is a quiet place that you can lie down for 20 minutes or so.

Exercise Often

It can be so easy to get comfortable in a spot at a party and not move for the entire night! About once every hour get out of your seat and move around. Take a 10 minute walk, stretch, or even do a few squats. This will ensure that you keep the blood flowing and keep the healthy holidays while pregnant!

Hydrate

It is so easy to remember to hydrate during the summer when you are constantly sweating. However, the holiday months begin to cool off and suddenly we all forget to hydrate, and for pregnancy that can be an issue. It is recommended that a pregnant woman drinks 64-96 fluid ounces each day. Be sure to grab your water bottle and stay hydrated!

Take “You” Time

Every day you should schedule some time for yourself. It can be as short as a ten minute meditations, or can be a full on soak in your tub! Make it a moment of relaxation and alone time. No matter what you choose to do, this tip will give you healthy holidays while pregnant.

Having healthy holidays while pregnant can be a challenge. But, with these tips you will find it much easier to prioritize yourself and your baby. And as you take care of the two of you your pregnancy will be more enjoyable!

I am so excited for you mama! If you are wanting maternity photos, or to schedule your newborn photos, then now is the time to reach out! I would be honored to capture this sacred time in your journey.
