My Favorite Newborn Poses

This time with your newborn is so short and special, and because of that I take my job as a newborn photographer very seriously. I want to capture your newborn in the way that you want to remember him. Fresh, pure and absolutely precious! And posing your newborn plays such an important role in capturing the beauty of your babe. Here are some of my favorite poses for your fresh little baby!

Hands On Chin

One of the sweetest newborn poses has to be hands on chin. Baby hands are so tender and cute, and their chins! Oh, so precious! Now, make those two features the center of the pose and you have yourself the most adorable shot from the entire newborn session. This pose is also very simple and timeless. It is one that you will want hung on your wall for the rest of your life!

Potato Sack

What is more cozy than a baby in a swaddle?! Bundling up your newborn into a “potato sack” is simply swaddling them, typically with their knees a little higher to give a more round look. I personally like to prop your newborn’s fingers right outside of the top of the swaddle. Making it look like your baby’s hands are just peeking out! I also love to take the idea of the potato sack and put a little spin on it! Wrapping your newborn up into a bundle, but allowing their little arms and legs to be exposed. This one is kind of hard to explain, so I you will just have to look at the picture!

Tucked In

This newborn photography pose became a lot more popular in 2020, and is spilling into 2021! Which I love because it really is adorable. Your baby will lay backside down on a comfy pillow, and then we will drape a piece of fabric over his top side. Pulling the fabric to give the tucked in effect! It really is such a darling idea and I absolutely adore adding small elements and details to give the photos even more personality.

Froggie

This is one of my favorite poses when it comes to newborn photography! Your sweet newborn seems to be perked up on her elbows with her head resting on her little hands. This pose brings so much life and excitement to your newborn photos. And if you are wondering how in the world your baby will be able hold themselves up, don’t worry, they wont! It' has everything to do with the magic of compositing!

You newborn is only so little for such a small amount of time. You deserve to capture these sweet and tender moments before they fly away. I would love to chat, get to know you, and learn which poses are your favorite! Let’s connect!
