Who To Bring To A Newborn Session

Sometimes we want to celebrate our newborn with everyone we know! And while that is so much fun, it may be wise to only bring a select few to a newborn session. Other times I have moms and dads who don’t consider bringing anyone, and later regret not having pictures with their newborn and great grandma. I never want you to feel any regret, nor do I want you to feel overwhelmed and crowded during your newborn session. So, I created a list of people to consider bringing to your newborn session.

Siblings

We are going to skip the obvious of mom and dad coming to your newborn session, and move to the siblings. Capturing newborn photos with your older children are some of the most precious moments I get to experience as a newborn photographer. There is such a special feeling in those sessions as your children gaze upon their new baby sibling. Before you know it, your kids will all be grown and fighting over who gets to use the car on Saturday. Document these tender moments now, because it will be over before you know it!

Name Sake

I absolutely love when parents name their child after a great aunt or a special family friend. Inviting these individuals to your newborn session will make their influence more memorable for everyone. Imagine giving your grandma a flawless quality picture of her and your baby to hang on her wall, in a way of thanking her for being such an example in your life. I get all teary eyed just thinking about it! They are obvious a special person, so consider inviting them to this special newborn session.

Generations

If you have multiple generations still alive in your family, you should document it! Bring in your mom, great grandma, great great grandma and further generations if they are still around. These type of newborn photos are so special and even unique! They show the generations that led to your precious baby, and will be saved for generations to come.

There are so many wonderful people in your life, and I am sure you want to include them all. The best advice I can give for who to invite to your newborn session is to consider who you want your baby to remember throughout their life. Think of those who made a positive impact on your life and how they will play that same role in your newborn’s. I’d love to chat and find a time that we can include the most important people to your newborn session!
