How To Select Your Newborn Album

Let’s be honest, you are going to love every picture of your sweet babe! And yes I have been doing newborn photography for quite a while and know my stuff. But, the reason you will absolutely love every picture is because your baby will be in each and every one! It can be more than overwhelming trying to choose which pictures to keep and which to leave behind, so I am going to help you out with a quick guide to simplify the process.

The Wow Factor

When looking through your newborn photography gallery you will be fall in love with every photo! I always suggest that the first time you go through your gallery to save the images that have the wow factor. These are the photos that you could not live with out. They are unique in the way that your baby was smiling, or the way your eyes are lit up when looking at your little bundle. They are the ones that make you say, “wow, I really love my baby” in pure amazement.

Family First

If you are coming into your newborn session with anyone, then make sure you keep a picture of them with your baby! This only makes sense. You invited them for a reason, so be sure you walk away with the photo you wanted of them! You especially want to be sure you have one with just you and your newborn, these are beyond special and will be treasured forever. I also always love to capture the entire family; mom, dad and any siblings.

Variety

Once you pick through your absolute favorites and family images, be sure that your newborn album has a lot of variety. By this I mean that not every picture is the same pose or in the same swaddle. Here are a few ways to give variety in your newborn photography session.

Poses

We will position your baby in a number of different poses. We all have our favorite poses, but make sure not every photo your select for your album is in the same pose. I recommend selecting at least three different poses, if not more.

Color

You will have the chance to pick a few different colors to incorporate. From the swaddle, to the back, and even props! You will have so many options, so during the newborn session pick your favorites and then take a little of each color palette home to hang on your walls!

Expression

Something that I don’t think a lot of new parents expect during their newborn session is the variety of facial expressions you will get! Little smirks, wide open yawning mouths, and even a few angry crunched faces. These precious expressions will grow and change so much. You will be so happy that you saved them into your newborn album.

Newborn Photography is such a passion of mine! I love getting to know each of you as we prepare for your session and then actually have your newborn session. I want you to walk away with everything your love about your baby in images. Let’s chat about how to make that happen!
